Winter weddings have a way of slowing everything down.
Nestled in the snowy hills of Wakefield, Le Belvédère provided the perfect backdrop for this intimate February celebration. Outside, the landscape was quiet and covered in snow, while inside, the venue glowed with candlelight, laughter, and the warmth that only comes from gathering your favourite people in one room.
From the moment guests arrived, there was a sense of ease and anticipation in the air. The soft winter light poured through the windows, creating the dreamiest atmosphere for portraits and quiet in-between moments. Captured on both digital and film, every part of the day felt nostalgic—like a collection of memories already well-loved.
It also happened to be one of the coldest days of the year, and the highly anticipated cliffside ceremony had to be moved indoors. Yet despite the change in plans, the ceremony felt no less magical. Surrounded by their loved ones, the space became warm, intimate, and incredibly cozy—a beautiful reminder that the heart of a wedding is never defined by its location, but by the people gathered to celebrate it.
One of my favourite things about winter weddings is the contrast they create. The cold, serene scenery outside makes the celebration inside feel even more intimate. Every candle flicker, every embrace, every burst of laughter seems amplified.
As the evening unfolded, heartfelt speeches filled the room with both tears and laughter before the reception slowly transformed into an unforgettable dance party. Guests filled the dance floor, glow sticks in hand, celebrating late into the night while the newlyweds soaked in every moment.
There is something incredibly romantic about a February wedding. The slower pace of the season allows couples to fully embrace what the day is truly about: being present, surrounded by the people they love most.
One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at Le Belvédère is the exceptional experience they provide time and time again. Their team consistently delivers impeccable service, making both couples and vendors feel genuinely cared for, and the food is always absolutely unforgettable. It is truly one of those venues where every detail is thoughtfully curated, allowing couples to fully immerse themselves in the joy of their celebration.
As an Ottawa photographer, Le Belvédère is always a venue I look forward to returning to. Beyond the stunning scenery, it is the warmth and professionalism of their team that truly stands out. Every wedding day feels seamless, and the incredible food is always a highlight for guests and vendors alike. It is one of those rare venues that manages to feel both luxurious and incredibly welcoming.
Planning your own wedding at Le Belvédère or elsewhere in Ottawa, Gatineau, or beyond? I’d love to document your celebration in a way that feels nostalgic, honest, and true to you.
